Can you believe this? Tim Redelman, good JPO member,
great host and CD (Jets Over the Heartland, Winimac) went to Florida again
this year without the Jetadic. At least he was gracious enough to provide
us not only with picutres of this international event but also some of his
own observations and clever comments. I now give you this report, in Tim's
words, so that those of us not fortunate enough to go can enjoy Jets Over
Deland (although somewhat vicariously). And, even those that were there might
find his report entertaining.
The weather for Jets Over Deland was perfect, 70 to 75
degrees every day and not a cloud in the sky all weekend. The wind was almost
always down the runway with lots of turbine and ducted fan flying all weekend.
I must apologize for my first picture as I didn't get the pilot's name. The
plane was a beautiful Cyclone by DL Aeromodels and was powered by a RAM 750F
and controlled by JR Radio.
The next picture is some guy (I don't know his name either)
I see at almost all the jet meets throughout the year. I think his name is
Bob Violett. He had his new F-100 powered by an AMT-280 and guided by JR
Radio. This plane is awesome and I must have one!
Rob Lynch was there flying the bajesus out of his BVM
F-4 Phatntom powered by a RAM 1000 and also driven by a JR Radio. Horizontal
rolls all the way aross the field at shoulder height. Inverted passes at
your wait, eight points, you name it, he did it!
And then there's me, Tim Redelman, with Billy Harrods
newly repainted F-4 Phantom. The plane was originally painted in the 30
Years of Phabulous Phantoms color scheme. Billy said his Dad told
him he had his life saved many times in Vietnam by these fabulous aircraft,
so we painted it in a more fitting manner. It is powered by a RAM 1000 and
flown with JR Radio.
Ralph Braun returned this year with Tracy, Taylor and
me for a great weekend of flying. (I put a new paintjob on his Roo to help
convince him we needed to go!) The Roo is powered with a RAM 750F and he
uses JR equipment in all his best models. We returned to DeLand the next
weekend for the bid bird meet and it rained all weekend. (Maybe they would
start flying jets, cause that's where all the good weather is!) (No , Tim.
That's what happens when you go to Florida for two consequtive weeks!) |
